Melty Monster Galaxy - Mission 3 The Chimp’s Bowling Challenge This is the first Chimp challenge I’ve uploaded, isn’t it? The mission here is pretty late in the game and is the second-last of his challenges, but I guess it serves as a good introduction anyway. The Chimp is a recurring character in this game. He shows up in various galaxies and creates a minigame for Mario to participate in. He’s set the bar with his own high score and will hand over a Star if Mario can match or beat it. If Mario can’t reach that score, Mario dies on the spot, just like the Gearmo in the original Galaxy’s Purple Coin challenges. (UPDATE: I was told the challenges where Mario goes through a pipe does not kill Mario but rather, he gets another try.) Usually, the challenges have nothing to do with the galaxy itself other than using the landscape. In this case, he’s got a bowling challenge, and this is the exception in that there’s a special area set aside directly for him. He says that his score is 5000 points and urges Mario to get at least that much. Mario gets a Rock Mushroom and needs to get to bowling in increasingly bizarre lanes. The scoring here is simple: Each of those bowling pin enemies, known as Pinheads, are worth 100 points. Thus, you get the Star if you can hit 50 or more Pinheads. It’s as simple as that.
